Professor Philippa Tomczak has been formally invited by the Secretariat of the Council of Europe as a Scientific Expert to attend in person the 14th Plenary meeting of the Council for Penological Co-operation (PC-CP) on 5th-7th November 2024 in Strasbourg, France. She will present key findings from her academic and impact work on prisoner death statistics and investigations. This work is published in eight peer reviewed articles and two policy briefs. The Council of Europe is an important international standard setting organisation and its expert Council for Penological Co-operation regularly reviews and revises international standards relating to imprisonment.
